This photographic book documents the spaces of the Hawkesbury, an area that sits just an hour’s drive north-west of Sydney CBD. “Capturing Oxberry”, another term for the Hawkesbury, documents the underwhelming spaces of the area, and how they have been used over time. Through this project I captured different natural and man-made landscapes of the area, not highlighting the people but rather what they leave behind. The Hawkesbury is a weird place and I wanted to capture that. I wanted to capture the beautiful landscapes, but also the abandoned buildings, the heritage buildings, and the modern structures.
This project allowed me to learn more about printing and book binding, and getting InDesign documents print ready. I further enhanced my photography, editing, and book design skills to bring this major work together.
